the journey begins…
Jul 27, 2010 news
Sometimes God has a really interesting way to get our attention for the next stages of our lives. Three months ago Jeff and his co-workers, were left go from their job. Three months and about 300 applications later, we hit our doomsday where everything was due and the bank account was empty as the pantry, no work and no way to get out of our own way, we decided to press into the Father’s heart and see what he wanted for us in the here and now.
A day after our doomsday came to a head, we had two options, we move back to Pennsylvania and resume our lives there or to make the leap of faith to California, where we have known for awhile that God was going to call us to eventually. Well, financially and out of our love for Lancaster, Pennsylvania was looking like the answer….till God spoke through several people to us, changing our minds. Our landlord, out of the Father’s mercy and grace, forgave our debts that Friday and we announced our move to California that Saturday online and that Sunday in our Church, Dayspring Mennonite. We really love our Church, where we have felt at home, and it was a really hard announcement and choice to make, however we know it was the right one. I took the leap of faith of reserving a uHaul for the last weekend in August and even though we only nineteen cents to our name, by that Money enough of our caring friends had paid for the uHaul and met our current fuel and grocery needs. The minute we took a step into the direction we saw the Holy Spirit leading, God provided the current needs almost instantly, which was a miracle to see and humbling. We are thankful and pray for blessings on all who were able to Contribute.
We are going to be having a Yard Sale August 14th and a uHaul packing Party August 28th. Then August 31st, which seems to be coming so quickly, we will be leaving on the open road for Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach, California.
We are really looking forward to the next era of our life and enjoying seeing the Kingdom of Heaven provide and lead the way. We are sad and tears have been shed when we think of leaving our Church, as well as our family, friends and Jeff’s 10+ generations of Lancaster heritage. The East Coast has treated us well, we knew we were to be here and now we see God leading us to Katie’s hometown, which is sad but exciting as we experience the Joy of following God in the here and the now, of where we are.
Keep checking back as we will be filling you in with news on this website, needs and blogging our four day, three night journey across the United States on Interstate 40.
